Cha, Doowon, A Leader in Autonomous Vehicles and the Mobility Industry!
Cha, Doowon earned his Ph.D. in Automotive Ergonomics from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Ajou University. Having served as a policy committee member at the Innovation Strategy Research Institute of the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP) and as the director of the Cha Du-won Mobility Institute, he is currently a Vice President in the TaaS (Transportation-as-a-Service) Division at Hyundai Motor Group.
As a professional engineer in ergonomics, he has held positions such as visiting researcher at the Japan Automobile Research Institute, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) team leader at the Hyundai Mobis R&D Center, adjunct researcher at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and head of policy at code42. He possesses extensive experience across the field, from advanced research and mass production of autonomous driving systems to mobility policies and regulations.
His research also encompasses changes in future society, the impact of new technologies on the future, and shifts in the job market due to technological advancement. Convinced that the autonomous driving and mobility industries will become core future sectors, he constantly explores user experiences in future technologies and sharing economy service models, as well as their socio-economic impacts and effective policy implementation.
