Thomas Frey worked as an engineer and designer at IBM for 15 years, during which he received more than 270 awards in engineering and design.

He is a member of the Triple Nine Society (a high-IQ society for those in the 99.9th percentile) and lectures on future trends to diverse audiences, ranging from NASA, Disney, IBM, and the Federal Reserve Bank to executives of Fortune 500 companies, including AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, Visa, Frito-Lay, Toshiba, and Dow Chemical.

Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of the DaVinci Institute, a futurist research center. He contributes future trend report columns to various publications such as the New York Times, Huffington Post, USA Today, US News and World Report, Popular Science, The Futurist Magazine, and Forbes. He is recognized by Google as one of the world's top futurists.
