Prof. Seungjoo Kim: Expert in Digital Information, Security Research, and Policy

Professor Seungjoo Kim is a leading expert who currently serves as a Full Professor at Korea University’s Graduate School of Information Security and as the Vice President for Digital Strategy (CIO), overseeing the university’s overall digital transformation and strategy.

After earning his Ph.D. in Information Security from Sungkyunkwan University, Prof. Kim built extensive expertise in both practical security operations and academia, serving as a professor at Sungkyunkwan University and a team leader at the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). 

His primary research areas include Security Testing and Evaluation, DevSecOps, Blockchain, and Cryptographic Engineering. He remains actively engaged in research and policy advisory for both domestic and international industry-academic circles. Furthermore, as a member of the Presidential Committee on Defense Innovation, he contributes to national security policy, including the improvement of network separation systems. He also leads efforts to strengthen defense information security as the Chairman of the Korea Defense Innovation Technology Security Association (KIDTSA). 

Prof. Kim’s educational philosophy emphasizes nurturing "Security Developers" who can go beyond simple testing to collaborate effectively with software developers in the field. He is also a vocal participant in social discourse, providing critical analysis and recommendations on blockchain and virtual asset policies. Known as an engaging and approachable speaker, he frequently communicates with the public through various broadcasts, forums, and lectures. With a multifaceted skill set spanning education, policy, technology, and public communication, Prof. Kim continues to drive practical change as a trusted advisor to governments, corporations, and academia.
