Taekkyung Lee: The First-Generation Venture Founder Turned Startup Accelerator and Investor
Taekkyung Lee, CEO of Mashup Angels, is a pioneering figure in the South Korean internet industry. In 1995, he co-founded Daum Communications with university seniors, including Jaewoong Lee (founder of SoCar). Daum achieved phenomenal success with Korea's first free webmail service, Hanmail (1997), and Daum Cafe (1999), which revolutionized PC communication clubs by moving them to the web, establishing Daum as a leading portal site.
After a successful tenure as Daum's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Mr. Lee transitioned to venture investment in 2008. In 2010, alongside fellow first-generation entrepreneurs Dogyun Kwon (founder of INICIS) and Byunggyu Jang (founder of Neowiz), he co-founded Primer, the first startup accelerator in South Korea. He further expanded his impact by establishing Mashup Angels in 2013, an early-stage specialized investment firm.
Mashup Angels focuses its investments across the entire spectrum of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, including internet services, mobile technology, e-commerce, software, and gaming.
